The XM44 Electronic Crossover Network is a very
flexible crossover design that provides individual outputs for
1, 2, 3 or 4 frequency bands on the 1- 2- 3- and 4-way models
respectively. The crossover frequency of XM44 Electronic
Crossover Network can easily be set by replacing frequency
modules. Each frequency module has the capacitors and resistors
that set the crossover frequency and slope for that channel.
Normal slope is 24 dB/oct, 4th order, constant voltage, but
modules for first, 2nd, 3th, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th order
slopes are also available. When choosing slopes of 24 dB/octave
and 48 dB/octave the high-pass and low-pass outputs of the
crossover are always in phase with each other (Linkwitz-Riley
alignment). Note that the slopes on the low, mid and high
channels can be different, so asymmetrical slopes are possible.
For example, a 2-way XM44 can easily be set with 6 dB/oct on the
high pass and 18 dB/oct on the low pass by choosing appropriate
frequency modules. One set of frequency modules is included
whith the XM44 crossover. Muting relays ensure there are no
transients during turn-on or turn-off.
Optional plug-in modules are also available for special features
like delay, bass boost(Linkwitz transform), baffle step
compensation and notch filter.
The XM44 is available as a 1-way version, 2-way version, 3-way
version and a 4-way version.
The XM44front panel has 1, 2, 4 or 6 calibrated level controls
(for left and right ) for each channel. The level controls are
12 position stepped attenuators with 1 dB steps. This allows for
very precise and repeatable setting of the output levels. A sum
switch allows the low pass channels to be summed. This is useful
when using the XM44 with a common subwoofer.
Options for the XM44 include balanced inputs/outputs. Rackmount
brackets are also available.
Also available an an option are 24 position stepped attenuators
instead of the standard 12 position attenuators for level
control. These 24 position stepped attenuators are calibrated in
0.5 dB steps and allow very accurate setting of the levels for
each output.

Ideal for custom installing into other equipment,
like amplifiers, etc. The XM44EMB has two channels on a single
circuit board. Each channel takes one or two XM44 frequency
modules. This allows each channel to be hi-pass, low-pass,
bandpass, etc. Each channel has an input that can be configured
as single ended or balanced. The outputs are single ended only.
There is an output level control adjustment for each or the two
channels. The board needs dual +/-15Volt supply (+/-6V to +/-18V
is acceptable). Supply voltage can be from +/-6V to
+/-18V. The size of the circuit board is 2.5" x 5.5". Total
height, including 0.5" mounting standoffs and the frequency
modules, is 2.5".
