The FG53 is a very accurate instrument for generating sine waves.  A frequency synthesizer  generates sine waves from 2Hz to 20KHz. The unit has two knobs; one for changing the output voltage and the other for changing the frequency.The frequency is shown on the LED display. The display also is used to show the output voltage. The mode of the display is changed by pushing the controls. The DDS uses a 12 bit DAC and gives a distortion of better than 0.1%.
The unit is powered with 3 AA batteries. The power down mode of the FG53 ensures long battery life.
